- What is a Line -

Here is the final poster printed on tracing paper. Here is the final book with the wooden book cover.
I used hinges to allow the wooden cover to open.
Title page.

Two exerts from the book to show the drawings.

Here is the Title i designed, i made it so the was just a continual line, going with the theme what is a line. I then used the laser cutter to emboss it.

Here is the final composition for the objects, i tried to get them as close as possible with out touching, it was like a very hard jig saw with out the picture to reference.
I arranged all the drawing into size order although it looks organised i felt it was visually appealing enough.

Here are all the individual drawings scanned in spaced out equally on two pages.

Evaluation - I am pleased with this what is a line project. I really enjoyed doing illustration because we don't do that much on the course. The final poster works well because there is a lot going on and you can l can spend time looking at all the detail. I would of perhaps changed the paper that i printed on, i choose tracing paper because you can put in on different surfaces and it gives it a different quality whether its on wood or a white wall. But i think it would of worked well on a good quality white thick stock so the black line drawing would look crisp.
The book turned out well too, the wood has a sturdy and professional quality to it although i am not that pleased with the laser cut title on the front, i would of preferred it if it was less subtle

Sai and i split up the illustrations. I did all the bears and Sai did all the people. On some of them we drew them together due to the nature of the activity. Here are some of my bears i drew.
Presentation Boards

We chose the 'Try Something new' option. We did a big brain storm looking at all the things that we could promote.

The 3 best ideas were

Having an alter ego

Make somebody's day

Try something new with a bear
Evaluation - I did enjoy working for this brief because me and my partner (Sai) wanted to do something fun and humorous. I think we came up with an original and quirky idea which people would enjoy. Although i think the idea and the illustrations were good, i wasn't too pleased with the end product. I didn't think that the calender was the best vessel to encourage people to try something new. I would of preferred to have make a good quality book which people would keep rather than a product that would only last for a year.

- Book Fair -

Final poster unfolded from the hot dog fold.Poster folded up with the belly band

Here are the 20 posters folded up together.

After experimenting with different hot dog folds i thought that a poster would be most appropriate for my idea.

Evaluation - I feel that the poster is visually appealing and goes well with my theme of circles. If i could of changed anything i would have made the back of the poster more exciting, by adding a title or an arrangement of circle shapes. This is because when folded up it looked blank and boring and because it was in a bellyband and it was next to all the other books/posters people weren't inclined to look at the inside.
