- Colour Theory -

The red stripes laid upon the yellow and the orange show how the yellow card makes the red seem more vibrant than the red on the orange card which blends better. The white stripes on the black background are more vibrant than the red stripes
The red square on the the blue looks very bold...
But when a black background is added and a white square placed on top the red looks much duller and less important.
Different colours can give different degrees of urgency. For instance the fourth arrow (blue arrow on green background) doesn't seem that important as the one next to it which is white with a red background.

- Colour Theory -

First we laid out all our coloured objects in a a circle of hue.
We then gathered a few objects from our colour and its complimentary colour, in our case it was blue and orange.

These pictures show how darker orange objects can change the original orange to make out it out to be a lighter shade of orange.

Here are the blue objects on its complimentary colour orange and vice versa. The colours of he objects seem more vivid when put on their complimentary colour.

The same applies to this picture, the side of the blue lid thats on the orange background pops out more than the the blue background.
The blue lid doesn't pop out as much on the yellow as the orange because its not a complimentary colour but it still is vivid because it is a primary colour.
Here is a blue lid placed on a dark blue background, it appears dark..
The same lid placed on a lighter blue background appears to have a much higher luminance.
These are 2 orange plastic bags which are exactly the same colour. The bag on the orange background appears much darker than the bag on the red background.

The same 2 bags are placed in a different way. This time the bag on the red background appears to be darker than the bag on the yellow background.

- Colour Theory -

We were asked to bring in 10 coloured objects (mine was blue) then we were put into groups of colour and asked to arrange our objects in a systematic way. We decided to arrange them in a linear line going from where the chromatic value gets less. Dark to light blue.

We were then told about Pantone (the worldwide colour library) we then selected 10 objects and matched them to the colours in the Pantone booklets.

Here are all the objects layed out with the Pantone codes.
